Fiona

fiona

Fiona is named after the character in the Shrek movie. It was our favourite movie growing up and when I got my little Lab, I had to name her Fiona. It’s a beautiful name and she is a beautiful dog.

She is 4 now and she has grown into the sweetest, most docile dog on this planet. We love her so much. She is like a little nanny for both my children. I have a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old and I think growing up with Fiona is doing good to them.

Once I heard my 6-year old was telling his friends ‘no you aren’t supposed to pull their tails.’ I thought that was very sweet. Fiona teaches my children how to respect other animals without ever saying a single word!

Everything has been great with Fiona so far but I wanted to share an incident that happened to us a few years back.

I was walking my dog with my husband and there was a car parked on the other side of the road. At first, I didn’t think much of it. So many cars are parked everywhere all the time. There is nothing wrong with it. But I don’t know, this car had a man.

He was on the other lane and he slowly pulled over to our lane and he was constantly looking at Fiona.

I tried to ignore it at first but he was there the whole time so I told my husband about it. Fiona was off-leash and was having a nice time running in the lawn. Then suddenly the guy called Fiona.

Fiona is very friendly so naturally, she went close to the guy. Then he tried to pet her. By then, I and my husband were already suspicious, we went running in that direction. The man tried to grab hold of Fiona by the collar but luckily Fiona got away and came running to us.

My husband then yelled at the man but then he got in his car and zoomed ahead.

I suspect that he was a dognapper and he was trying to take Fiona away. We are so lucky that didn’t happen and Fiona got saved.

If you have a dog and you let them walk off-leash, please be careful. Keep an eye on the roads around you and keep them on a long lead if you have to, but avoid letting them off-leash if they tend to run off.

That day was one of the scariest days of my life. We almost lost our little girl and I don’t want anyone else to go through it.
