Frequently Asked Questions

#1. Why GOODNESS?

"GOODNESS" as the name indicates the quality of being good. All our recipes of both Grain free & Grain wholesome formulas are made with the best ingredients and it suits all the dogs which have sensitive digestions and allergic reactions to other foods. Goodness is a complete and balanced pet food. Hence, your dog wouldn't require any additional supplements, as it contains highly beneficial omega 3 & 6 which helps your dog's cardiovascular system, joints and gives an excellent skin and coat condition. Also, it contains natural prebiotics FOS and MOS to encourage the production of healthy bacteria in the digestive system. Goodness offers unique and variety of meat ranges & it is free from artificial colours, flavours & preservatives.

#2. Why so many Meat Ranges?

Each meat has its own goodness and our dogs should have access to all possible meat ranges to obtain different nutrients from different meats.

Most dogs are picky eaters because they have been fed with the same food all the time. Hence, we offer different meat ranges to our lovable dogs to make their meal time interesting and so that they will jump around with excitement and then in a flash all their food bowls will be empty. Now our dogs just can’t wait for their meal time.

#3. What is grain free dog food?

Grain free dog food is a meat based dog food which does not contain any cereal grains. Grain free dog foods replace the grains with vegetables and fruits. Hence, vegetables and fruits are the carbohydrate sources and they are not bad for dogs, as dogs in the wild would have eaten a small amount by ingesting the contents eaten by their prey. One thing to keep in mind is that a grain free diet is more nutritious and it is closer to a dog's ancestral diet.

#4. What are the benefits of Grain Free Dog Food?

  • Reduce canine food allergies
  • More energy
  • Nutrients are absorbed more easily, leading to reduced stool volume
  • Healthier skin
  • Shinier coat
  • Less shedding
  • Better breath
  • Reduced flatulence
  • Overall good health

#5. Are you saying that grain based pet foods are bad?

No. Dogs evolved to digest grains and starches after agriculture started by humans. Even though today’s dogs can digest grains and starches, the major percentage of a dog’s diet should come from meat, vegetable, and fruit ingredients. One thing to keep in mind is that the grain used in pet food should come from good sources like rice (both brown & white), oats, barley etc.

#6. What is HYPOALLERGENIC?

Hypoallergenic means that a food is less likely to cause an allergic reaction. The ingredients have been chosen carefully with this in mind and we have avoided those known to most commonly cause an allergic reaction, such as wheat, soy and dairy.

#7. Why Duck and Turkey instead of Chicken?

Chicken is widely used in all dog foods and our dogs are exposed so much to chicken. For this reason, we have limited chicken to only one recipe along with other meats. Also, Turkey and Duck gives more flavour than chicken and your dogs will feel them very interesting as it is new to them.

#8. Why Pork and what is novel protein?

Pork is a very tasty meat and gives an intense flavour which is extremely palatable for our dogs. Even fussy dogs will find it more interesting. It has high levels of protein, zinc, phosphorus, selenium, iron, magnesium, potassium and various B vitamins to keep your dog healthy.

A novel protein is a protein source that the pet has never eaten before. Novel proteins like pork are used in pet food for animals that have developed allergies to common protein sources like chicken. That’s why, a novel protein source is often needed for our dogs and we are sure, that your dogs will go nuts to taste our delicious novel protein recipe.

#9. Will pork make my dog fat?

It is a myth. Six cuts of pork are lean and lean pork has less fat than a chicken breast, which has been scientifically proven. In fact, Pork contains more unsaturated fat than saturated fat. In our pork grain free recipe, the total fat contains only 14% & it has thoroughly cooked white lean pork, which doesn’t make your dog fat. So, next time when someone talks bad about pork - just share the information.

#10. Is pork - the only novel protein in your meat ranges?

No. We consider all our meat ranges namely pork, duck, salmon, trout and turkey as novel proteins. It really depends upon the market where a dog is not exposed to these meats. In our market, we consider all these meat ranges to be exotic and none of them is being much exposed to a dog before.

#11. Is fish good for dogs?

Fish is an excellent source of protein and omega 3. This fact alone makes fish a fantastic source of nutrition for dogs.

Fish has a lot of benefits in your dog's diet and it is one of the nature's most abundant natural sources of Omega 3 essential fatty acids. Fatty fish such as Salmon and Trout has high levels of Omega 3, which is just great for aiding your dog's joints and all round mobility. Fish are also known to have beneficial properties for your dog's skin and coat.

Omega 3 fatty acids doesn’t occur naturally in the cells of the canine body so adding them to your dog’s diet can reap big rewards.

#12. Why the protein levels are not more than 28% in any of your recipes?

As with most things, when it comes to protein, quality is much more important than quantity. Imagine a food with high protein levels say 30%, but the protein sources are bad, then do you think it is a good food? No! But a food with moderate protein levels with the best protein sources is always the best.

Hence, we are able to achieve better results with moderate protein levels and the protein sources in our recipes are derived from high quality meats.
